Horse worming calender
Horse Worming Calender
The following table has been produced by medipetcare.com as a guideline for owners wishing to use a horse worming calender in order to reduce resistance of worms to the current horse wormers available.
We recommend that you change the chemical group used each year during the grazing season to further the reduce this resistance ( see example and notes at the bottom of table )

Notes:
1. The interval between worming treatments will depend on the product used, the age of the animal (younger animals require more frequant treatments) and the level of the challenge (horses stabiled together may require more frequant worming ).
An accurate assessment of your horses weight is required for effective dosing of each product.
2. October-December treatments can be carried out in November using a combination wormer.
3. Example of how to change chemical group annually-
Year One : Bimectin April-August, Equimax Oct-March(for mild winter)
Year Two : Pyratape April-Nov, Equest Dec and Pyratape Feb/March(if mild winter)
Year Three : Panacur April-August, Equitape Oct, Panacur Nov, Eqvalan Dec, Panacur Feb and Equitape March(if mild winter)
4. Worm egg counts can be used during the grazing season to ascertain the need for wormers if desired.
